Find Your
Recommended Weight
The Body Mass Index (BMI) was created to give men and
women between the ages of 18 and 65 an idea of whether or not
they are a healthy weight by using a formula which compares height and weight.
According
to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC),
measuring your BMI is the most reliable
way to calculate a healthy weight range
for your height.
To calculate your
BMI, hold down your left mouse key to slide the height and weight bars, or
enter the values into the shaded box. Your BMI will automatically appear.
Use that number in the charts below to determine
your obesity level as well as how you compare
to the "average" person.

These are the
official categories for body weight based
on BMI (Body Mass Index). Some people, including
short women, those who are muscular, and
older people, may not get an entirely accurate
representation of their health risks using
the BMI. BMI is meant to give people a general
idea of whether they are at a healthy weight.
Here is how the country is doing as a whole.
It's nice to see how you stack up against
these numbers.

Women tend to
believe they look their best at values between 20 to 22 and men are
usually satisfied with a BMI of 23 to 25. Please remember,
however, that this is only one of many possible
ways to assess your weight. If you have
any concerns about your weight, please discuss
them with your physician, who is in a position,
unlike this BMI calculator, to address your
specific individual situation.
